MUSIC Welcome to the 2025-2026 year at Sacred Heart Catholic School. I'm Mr. Rafael Bello and I am teaching Music. This will be my first year with the school and I am very excited to be here. My goal is to help the students expand their musical knowledge and grow in their faith through the music we perform in class and through the music the students encounter in their lives. In my class, I will be looking for students who exhibit good behavior, genuine participation, and a love for learning not only from the teacher but also from their classmates. If I hand out materials make sure that you bring them to the next class. Be prepared to write! I will have days spread throughout each month where students will be working on music theory, music history, and music appreciation. The music we will be working on will range from sacred music all the way to sea shanties and country classics. The reason for this wide range is that I want our students to be exposed to the vast realm of musical ideas and motifs that can be found in all the genres of music we will be covering. ______________________________________________________________________________________  This week is the feast day of St. Monica the mother of St. Augustine on the 27th! She is the Patron Saint of Married Women, Difficult Marriages, and Disappointing Children. Through her prayers and work she helped convert both her husband and her son Augustine. Augustine later went onto become one of the most influential saints and theologians of the catholic church. He is well known for writing the great theological work "Confessions- By St. Augustine." She was a loving mom and a dutiful wife who changed the world by living her faith and loving and caring for her family. |
