PRE-K3 - 2nd Grade

Dear Students and Parents,

          My name is Sister Catherine Mary, O.P and I am your child’s Religion teacher this year. It is my privilege to accompany your child in growth of mind, heart, and soul as he/she delves into the Catholic faith. The Catechism of the Good Shepherd will deepen your child into the relationship with God and with others. They will practice virtues and Gospel in daily life as they journey through the life of Jesus according to the Bible. Course Description & Objectives

The 3rd – 5th Grade Religion Curriculum focuses on Jesus Calls Us to Follow the Beatitudes and the Ten Commandments. This theme will be divided into concrete topics that will enable students to delve further into the rich mysteries of the Catholic Church

Determination of Grade:

Exams, Test, Projects, & Service Hours: 45%

Quizzes, HW, CW, Attendance, Mass/Class Participation: 55%  

Expectation:

 Students will be encouraged to apply religious studies to their everyday life by listening, learning, and living the Word of God and growing deeper in their daily life. Students will also be expected to keep a faith journal in which they will complete a journal reflection weekly. Students are expected to come to class promptly, prepared and eager for religious instruction and formation. Religion materials include: Bible, composition notebook, pencil, planner book, and Religion folder. Textbook may be taken home with teacher’s permission.

Class Policies

To create and maintain an environment that fosters healthy learning, students are required to observe the following:

         Classroom Rule

  1. Be RESPECTFUL: All rules and regulations are built on the foundation of having and showing respect for God, others, and self.

         Academic Guidelines

  1. Be prepared to learn by coming to class with a willingness to learn and class materials (textbook, writing utensils, notebook/folder, school agenda, etc.)
  2. Be responsible for all materials covered in class while absent
  3. If an assignment is not turned in when due the student will have three days to turn in work with ten points taken off for each late day. If it is not turned in by the third day, then it will be considered incomplete and a zero will be earned for that assignment.
  4. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated (e.g. cheating, plagiarizing, etc.)

1st grade:

10 COMMANDMENTS

2nd Grade:

ACT OF CONTRITION

O My God, I am sorry for my sins with

all my heart. In choosing to do wrong

and failing to do good, I have sinned

against you, whom I should love above

all things. I firmly intend, with your help,

to do penance, to sin no more,

and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us.
